A Brief History of Room Perfume
By 3000BC Egyptian priests used aromatic resins in religious ceremonies and this practice quickly spread into wealthy homes.
The Ancient Greeks, Chinese & Romans also used fragrance in this way and by 1500s French nobility adopted home fragrances.

What Do Mums Really Want ?
For mother’s Day we decided to try and find out what do Mums really want and how we should treat our Mothers on this special day.
So, we posed the question internally at PAIRFUM and the answers, we realised, depended on the age range of the children:
- Mothers of young children would dearly love ‘Time for Themselves’,
- Mothers of teenagers would like a little more help at home in combination with the phrase “whatever” to have a new meaning in the Cambridge Dictionary.
According to the Cambridge Dictionary, ‘Whatever’ is a pronoun, a determiner meaning ANYTHING or EVERYTHING.
Here are two examples of its meaning that would be very popular on Mothers Day:
- “ANYTHING I can do to help you Mum”, or
- “I really appreciate EVERYTHING you do for me Mum”.
Another recurring wish was for a long & lazy ‘Morning in Bed’, a lie-in followed by a long luxurious soak in the bath and the pleasure to take as much time as you like to choose what to wear and to do your make-up, or not, as the case may be.
One answer that was very clear was, that Mums want time for themselves: #Mumstime.
International Women’s Day
Thursday, the 8th of March 2018 is International Women’s Day!
A day to celebrate the social, economic and cultural achievements of women around the world.
So, … don’t forget to show your appreciation to the special women in your life today.
After all, they deserve it!
Mothering Sunday
Mothering Sunday is held on the fourth Sunday of Lent in the United Kingdom, exactly three weeks before Easter Sunday.
This year that falls on Sunday 11th – this coming Sunday!
So, let’s all spare a thought and honour that special person who brought us into the world this Mother’s Day.
Let’s Ask Mum
With Mother’s Day on the Horizon, everywhere you look there are reminders of how we should treat our Mothers on this special day. Instead, we thought, it should be “Let’s Ask Mum” !
Consequently, here at PAIRFUM we started to ask ourselves and others, “What do Mother’s really want for Mother’s Day” and we mean really, really want!
Following a lot of very nice suggestions ranging from ‘a two week all expenses paid Holiday in Bali’, ‘a Weekend at an exclusive Spa’, to ‘a week Skiing at a top resort of their choice’, we started to come back down to earth and realised that most children, be they 2 or 82, do not have that sort of money in their Piggy Bank.
We also came to the realisation that we never ask our Mother’s what they want.
Now, … as all of us know, our Mothers are very good at telling us what they want, but it is normally for our benefit not theirs.
I am sure there are the few exceptions to the rule, but generally our Mums do not tell us what they would like as a gift on Mother’s Day.
So,… this year we thought we would ask for a change, and give all those Mums out there a chance to say what they would really like.
So we would like to hear from Mothers where ever you may be in the World, what would make ‘Mother’s Day’ really special?
It is time for #Mumstime.
